Endangered Languages and Language Revitalization
Field Methods and Fieldwork

___Here you will find the syllabi for courses on linguistic field methods as well as courses on endangered languages and language revitalization. Most of the information has been collected from North American institutions and was submitted in response to the following message that was placed on the Linguist List:

___As part of a project being carried out by the LSA Committee on Endangered Languages and their Preservation, we are collecting information on field methods courses, as well as courses on language revitalization. If you have taught field methods or language revitalization/language death/language endangerment courses in recent years and are willing to share your syllabus, we would greatly appreciate it. If you agree, your syllabus will become part of a website about fieldwork. In addition, we would appreciate knowing what languages you/your department has studied in field methods.

***We would like to thank the people who responded so far for sharing useful information along with their syllabi. We will let you know as soon as the website with the information on it is ready.***

***We received responses from North American universities and colleges only, but we strongly encourage any institution around the world to participate in the project, if involved in fieldwork training and language revitalization programs.***

___For some universities, course descriptions alone were available. In such instances, the description is provided. All syllabi are given as a PDF or as a link to the instructor's site.

___If you have instructed or been involved in a course on linguistic field methods or on endangered languages and language revitalization and would like to share your syllabi, please contact us.
